Good Morning!
I would like to share some GREAT news from the art program. This year is a really special time for our JM Art students because we have several students who earned gold key awards in the National Scholastic Art and Writing Competition. Students who are awarded a Gold Key move on to the national competition in NYC in March.
It is also amazing that Kalliope Ivari, an 8th grader, got nominated for the American Visions Medal for her painting. This is one of the highest honors and only one student is nominated from NE Ohio region. I have been working hard to have one of our students achieve this award. These Medalists are celebrated during National Events and at the National Exhibition in New York City. I can't wait to hear about the results in February. In the meantime, there will be an award ceremony on January 26, 2019 at YSU in the Ford Theater. You are invited to join the ceremony. The following students will also have their artwork displayed in Bliss Hall this month.
I would like to congratulate:
- David Vega (2 gold keys, 1 silver key, and honorable mention)
- Grace McDevitt (1 gold key & 1 silver key)
- Marisa Jonesco (1 silver key & 1 honorable mention)
- Brianna Shannon (1 silver key)
- Kalliope Ivari (2 gold keys and nominated for the American Visions Award)
Thank you for always supporting the art program and allowing these students to shine and display their talent! Attached is all of the the artwork that received awards.
Sincerely,
Katelyn Amendolara
