Mr. Hogue's Sports Update 02/27/2017 - 03/18/2017

2/27/17 to 3/27/17

This will be the last update for a month as we are ending the winter season and beginning the spring season in the coming weeks.  This has been an excellent winter season for our athletes in grades 7-12 and they have done a great job representing Jackson-Milton proudly.

Girls Basketball

Our girls’ varsity basketball team finished their regular season with a record of 19-3.  They finished the season ranked 6th in the Associated Press D-4 State Poll.  This is a major accomplishment for our girls and is something that on top of their second ITCL Blue Tier Championships is a major achievement.  The Junior Varsity team also finished the season undefeated with the future being bright for the program.   The girls opened the OHSAA state tournament Saturday with a 59-21 win over the Southern Local Lady Indians. The following insert is a schedule should the girls make it all the way to the state championship.

Pre-sale tickets will be sold for all future games so please try to buy them off the school district as this is how the school gets money for these games.  Please check back on the website for more information on this and on the Jackson-Milton Sports Club Facebook page. The link to the tournament bracket page can be found at:

The girls 7th grade team finished 4th in their ITCL tournament and look forward to another successful year next year.

Boys Basketball

The boys team beat Mineral Ridge on the 17th of February to pick up their 6th victory of the year.  The boys have vastly improved this year and will look to win their first OHSAA tournament game at Southern Local on Tuesday the 28th at 7:00 PM.  Should the boys win they will travel to either Wellsville or host East Canton on Friday night.  Check the website for more details on this in the coming days.   The junior varsity team picked up 10 wins on the year and showed a lot of hope for the future.

One thing that can be said that Jackson-Milton Wrestling competes with many bigger schools throughout their season to get ready for the OHSAA state tournament.  At most of these big tournaments they attend they are usually one of the smaller schools there.  This schedule has proven to produce many District qualifiers for the program and the same continued this year.  Here is the list of wrestlers moving on and their finishing place at sectionals.
