Prep today, feast tomorrow!
Students in the Foods for Life Class at Jackson-Milton High School started making traditional Thanksgiving dinner side dishes on Thursday, November 19.
They made gravy from scratch and used fresh green beans for the green bean casserole.
Also on the menu for Friday's feast: corn and sweet potato casseroles, stuffing and individual mini pumpkin pies.
One student is taking in as much as she can from the class.
“I’m learning about this my plate thing, with grains, dairy, fruit and vegetables and protein, and we have made many recipes every single week," said Katie Campbell, Sophomore at JM. " It’s just kind of fun to learn what kind of grains and stuff there are. “
Using fresh ingredients is a big focus in the Foods for Life Class.
You can bet students enjoy “tasting” their class work
