Prom season is here and it’s the perfect time to remind students about the importance of making good decisions. On Friday, May 13th, the seniors at Jackson-Milton High School visited the Mahoning County Justice Center in Youngstown for Prom Promise. While at the Justice Center, students had the opportuni- ty to tour the jail, see day to day operations, and sample what life is like behind bars. After the tour they were able to meet with Mahoning County Sheriff’s Deputies to talk about the effects of alcohol and drug abuse, interaction with police officers, respect and other important life matters. They also met with a small group of inmates to talk about decision making and accountability, as well as the challenges they will be faced with moving into adulthood. The inmates shared their personal life stories in hopes of diverting others from making the same mistakes.
