Attention Jackson-Milton Community

The time has come to support our art department in the Annual ODOT District 4 Paint the Plow contest. Voting begins on Monday November 27th and continues through Friday December 8 at 3 p.m. The Jackson-Milton art department led by Mr. Jackson worked very hard on their plow and would appreciate your votes and support

Please visit the ODOT Facebook page, Facebook.com/ODOT4 to vote.

For each like our plow gets one vote. Be sure to share this information with family and friends to help our school win this contest.

Jackson-Milton Middle School and High School had several students performing this past weekend in honor bands! These students spent just three days of rehearsal putting music together for their Saturday Concerts.

🌟Performing with the Ohio Music Education Association District 5 Junior High Honors Band were Makenzie Truslow (trumpet), Josie Bayer (flute), and Prentiss Fishtorn (tenor sax). They were selected out of students from Mahoning, Ashtabula, and Trumbull counties to participate with about 105 other students. They had the privilege of working with world renowned composer Randall Standridge. We at Jackson-Milton consistently play pieces written by Mr. Standridge, including one we are working on right now, "Santa the Barbarian".

🌟JM also had two students in the OMEA District 5 High School Honors Band: Aiden Cole and Lorelei Bayer - both clarinets. They had to submit audition videos to be accepted into the ensemble. They worked with Dr. Jeffrey Gershman, currently Director of Bands at The College of Wooster. Dr. Gershman is a nationally renowned conductor, with both professional ensembles and high school honor bands. He also has an annual series with the Dallas Wind Symphony, one of the few professional wind band ensembles in the country.

🌟Finally, Delaney Crytzer performed with the top honors band at the Bowling Green State University High School Honor Band Festival, under the direction of Dr. Kenneth Thompson. During her time there she had the opportunity to work with other BGSU faculty in masterclass sessions, as well as see several performances of BGSU's music ensembles.

Congratulations to Makenzie, Josie, Prentiss, Aiden, Lorelei, and Delaney!

Jackson-Milton will host a junior/senior financial aid night for students and parents.  A representative from YSU will have information about all types of financial aid opportunities, from the new changes to the free student aid application, to types of federal and state aid, along with information about scholarships.  This information is for all colleges, not just YSU, please join us on Jan. 4 at 6 pm.

College Credit Plus (CCP) is an opportunity for students in grades 7-12 to take college classes, if they test, apply and are admitted into a college or university.  The meeting for new students and guardians to receive information about this opportunity for the 2024/2025 school year will be December 4 from 6-7:30 in the MS/HS cafetorium.  Parents and students need to attend if interested in CCP for the 2024/20225 school year.

Thanks to our JMES PTA for the passing out snacks and drinks to the JMES staff!

The 2022-23 Jackson-Milton High School Yearbooks are now in!  They can be picked up in the school office if you placed an order online last year.  Mrs. Morelli does have several extra copies of the high school yearbook that can be purchased directly from her for $50 each.  She also has extra copies of the middle school yearbooks from the 2022-23 school year if you missed out on purchasing one, those books are $16 each.  Please make checks payable to JMHS or bring in the exact amount to purchase your book from last year!  Online orders have also opened for the current yearbook (2023-24) as well and instructions to order this book will come home in your student's report card.

Barry Gonis of Spitzer Chevrolet is presented an Ohio School Boards' Association Honor Roll certificate by Jackson-Milton Superintendent Kirk Baker. Spitzer Chevy is recognized for their many donations to the school district to help with athletics and academics.

Spitzer’s generous donations help our athletic program purchase items that are not in the budget. Spitzer has also donated to our Entrepreneurship classes to help purchase 3-D printers and a Banner making machine. Spitzer’s Dealership is greatly appreciated by everyone at Jackson-Milton.
